And the great Chrysalislover has returned, on his quest to fav and comment on every Midna picture on DeviantArt. Never waning from his quest, he seems as determined and valiant as ever. You have my most humble thanks, sir.
As per usual with your illustrations, the lightning here is rather impeccable. The texture work on the skin looks really good, and the Fused Shadow looks particularly great. The texture, lighting, and the engraved parts give it remarkable depth. Seriously, how do you draw that thing...? D:
Hair is also looking really nice. The individual strands of hair forming the edges rather than a solid outline, really gives a nice sense of realism.
The red in the background seems to be somewhat out of place, however. Probably just me being odd, but I feel it would look better without the redness at the vertical edges. If you would leave just the blue at the center as a light from the orb thingy she's got, and then fill the rest of the background with a very faint hint of the same color, I think it might've yielded a better result. I may very well be picturing this in a completely invalid manner though, in which case this suggestion would also be invalid, so I should probably be quiet now...
All in all, another really awesome image. Why do you have to be so good and make me look so bad? -.-
The fused shadow was a huge pain in the ass. That damn thing seriously took up 3/4 of both the time and layers in the image. Initially figuring out how to do it was rather difficult, but now that I know how to do it, it isn't too bad.
You may be right about the bg. I originally didn't have any idea for a bg, but when I took a picture of the outline it put a hue on the paper, and it didn't look too bad so I figured it might work. I was hoping that the red in front and blue in the center would create a slight sense of depth since warm colors usually push forward and cool colors tend to pull back.. apparently it didn't work. It might look a little more uniform and united if its all the same color, so I see where you're coming from.
Thanks for your feedback man, constructive comments like these are incredibly helpful. I don't know why you would say you're bad. You're one hell of a fine artist, and you certainly have a more likeable style than me. Perhaps you don't see how good you are, but rest assured, "bad" is a word that will never describe you.
